Notes:
This poem primarily serves to reflect on the assumptions and typical stereotypes that all
viruses are harmful to our lifestyle and survival as a society. I attempted to personify the
virus to better allow non-expert readers, who are more acquainted with reading poetry,
to better grasp the idea that viruses are ‘misunderstood’ or framed to be all bad.
However, these viruses can still be considered ‘good’ and play a large role in fighting
cancers, creating vaccines, combatting microbes, or even be used to induce genetic
changes in animals or other species. Finally, it is thanks to scientists and researchers
that elucidate such concepts to be shared that has led to such advancements.
